Welcome to Sanity, Arizona. It’s a small town, near the middle of the Mojave Desert, run by a different type of human.
The natives of Sanity move a little bit slower, smile a little bit longer, and eat sausages made of tourists.
This horror series follows the story of a different type of society, one that functions of its own accord and would rather be left alone than participate in the world the rest of us dwell in.
Unfortunately for them, and everyone else, people tend to find themselves in Sanity, AZ.
In Sanity, AZ is a horror with darkly comic elements created by James Ninness, Joe Pezzula, Marcel Losada and Michael Drace Fountain.
Here, in this Free Comic Book Day edition of the series, we get a fantastic glimpse in to this really messed up world and it's eclectic art and writing. If the stories here are anything to go by then we will be most definitely in for a treat.
The four stories here are absolutely fu*ked up but in a very good way. In fact, they would seem out of place in a Clive Barker anthology.
Out of the stories here, the best one is by far the story entitled 'Lullaby' written by James Ninness and with art by Mike Temple. It's told in a very lyrical style and with some shockingly good imagery used by Temple, it's a story that definitely stands out from this collection.
For the other stories, the art ranges from Mike Mignola style art right up to some very menacingly drawn art that will stay in you memory for a long time after you have closed the issue.
All in all, this is a very good issue and a great precursor to the series. If that series is going to be half as good as this glimpse has led me to believe then it's going to be an absolute blast.
